Diepsloot is one of the largest informal settlements in South Africa, home to over 100 000 people. It’s also a hub for many other artisans who work in leather, clothing, and other related industries. Youth Project Diepsloot aims to educate youth about the impact of their choices on the community and encourages them to become agents of change. Through talks, workshops, and mentorship programmes, they’re teaching skills like communication, negotiation, and financial literacy that will empower them to take charge of their own lives.

They’re also creating pathways for career development so that they can forge ahead in sectors like medicine or engineering where they see great potential. Youth Project Diepsloot has been forging these paths together with the adults of our community since 2014 – we couldn’t be prouder.

Diepsloot is known to be one of the most dangerous places in South Africa. Residents here have their homes burnt, catch animals being dragged and even get shot on sight by criminals. But why is it that nobody helps these people?

The Diepsloot Youth Project was established in 2014 to address violence and poverty in the area. They support local schools with uniforms, books and other school necessities, engage children in fun activities, and create employment opportunities. Volunteerism is also a huge part of their program; they have helped rebuild houses after fires and floods, or have assisted with medical training. As technology advances, they are creating an app where residents can report crimes anonymously.

DYC is a non-profit initiative that aims to change the world for the better. We do this by empowering young men and women from all backgrounds, races, and religions. Together, we build a strong community where everyone can thrive. Through workshops, job training, and youth development programs, we help our residents reach their full potential.

Over the years, it has been trying to make a change for the better, but this often comes with negative connotations. The Youth Project Diepsloot is working on changing these misconceptions and mindsets one person at a time.

‘Diepsloot belongs to me too’ is what they are saying by doing community service and helping others in their own way. Through the Youth Project Diepsloot, they want people to know that diepsloot is not just about crime but also about making a difference in the society.

Diepsloot is a suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa. It’s one of the poorest parts of the city that has become synonymous with crime and violence. But Diepsloot Youth Project is changing that perception. In partnership with local authorities, churches, and non-profit organizations, DYProject engages young people in positive activities that help transform their lives. From cooking classes to sports programs, DYProject offers a variety of services that have a lasting impact on its participants’ lives. Did you know that DYProject runs HIV/Aids awareness campaigns in schools? Or that it sponsors a TeenageAIDS unit within its hospital?
