Diepsloot Youth Project offers you an opportunity to explore new cultures and traditions, create connections across communities, build skills for life beyond work and discover a sense of belonging through art, culture and heritage. You’ll learn new skills that will make you more employable in the future while having fun at the same time.
We know you love your culture, and we’re proud of that. That’s why we’ve partnered with Diepsloot Youth Project to bring the arts to life at the museum. From art classes for children to special events for adults, our partnership is a great way for you to experience Diepsloot’s rich history in a fun, interactive way. Diepsloot Youth Project operates as a non-profit arts and cultural center that provides access to resources for youth, young adults and families in the southern Johannesburg suburb of Diepsloot. DYP‘s mission is to foster creative expression through the production of high-quality arts and culture programming.
They run workshops that help participants develop skills in filmmaking, dance, music, performance art and more.
Diepslooting have also created a plethora of events catering to the needs of diverse communities across South Africa. Their yearly Arts Festival takes place in May where they showcase local talent alongside international artists like Kendrick Lamar and Florence + The Machine on stage.
