The youth of Diepsloot are transforming the community into a hub of creativity and expression. On 1 March, they launched the Diepsloot Youth Project, an initiative that aims to increase access to arts and culture in the area.
DYPN is a free programme that hosts classes on a variety of art forms including pottery, dance, theatre, and music. The classes are taught by local artists and volunteers who want to share their knowledge with others. All ages participate – from children who love making things to teens who just want to express their creativity.
Who says art and culture have to be exclusive? Not us! With the Diepsloot Youth Project, you can enjoy both in one go. On Saturday, 19 September from 9:30 to 11:30am, pop over to the Brand’s co-working space in Diepsloot for a quick art and culture lesson. Thereafter, have some fun at their booth where they will be offering giveaways and more!
You don’t need to be an expert artist or even an enthusiast to attend the Diepsloot Youth Project – it’s a perfect way to get yourself connected with others in the arts community.
How do you describe a place that is home to some of the continent’s most outstanding artists, dancers, and musicians? It’s a place where it feels like home has been waiting for you. Welcome to Diepsloot, where culture lives on through art, music, food and dance.
Diepsloot Youth Project is changing lives one neighborhood at a time. The project connects local youth with arts and culture in an effort to empower them and give them the tools they need to be successful in life. Kids participate in classes, workshops, and activities that focus on creativity and self-expression. Through these programs they learn valuable skills that will help them succeed no matter what path they decide to take. Some participants even decide to stay in Diepsloot after participating in the program; this shows how much the area means to them!
Arts and culture are powerful tools for both personal and community development. The Diepsloot Youth Project aims at harnessing that power and using it to create a better tomorrow for every individual.
The project provides young people with the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to succeed in all aspects of life. Through classes in music, dance, art, and more, they learn how to develop their creative talents while also cultivating important life skills like resilience and self-expression. In addition to offering classes, the project hosts festivals and other events where participants can showcase their talents to others in the community.
Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just getting started on your creative journey, join us as we work together to make Diepsloot a more culturally vibrant place!
