Youth need to be understood and appreciated as they are the future from whom all things should come. That’s why Diepsloot Youth Project is doing a special project for 175th anniversary of the township in which youth will be taken for an outing, where there will be fun activities and food with the youth appreciating their elders. The project is being carried out at regular intervals across the township which will start on Saturday and continue till next Sunday.

The project was started in partnership with various other banks, biscuit manufacturing company, insurance company, schools, colleges etc.

Meet one of the 175 youth who benefit from the Diepsloot Youth Project. This project is helping these vulnerable youth, who find themselves in difficult situations, to break free from their shackles and lead a life of dignity.

Each youth gets a monthly stipend of R3,500 that covers his/her food and clothing expenses. The project also provides them with educational opportunities and access to soft skills development. The goal of this project is to ensure that the youth get the best possible opportunity and an equally great life for them!

Diepsloot is home to some of the youngest, most vulnerable Ethiopians in South Africa. Ranging in age from 11 – 17 years old, they face many forms of abuse and discrimination on a daily basis. Youth Project 175 is trying to change this through its various programs.

With an aim to empower the youth, Youth Project 175 offers various programs that tackle issues like gender equality, HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment, and governance and leadership skills. Contacting them today can prove to be one of the biggest turn-arounds for these at-risk young people!
