Diepsloot Youth Project is a community based organisation based in Diepsloot, Johannesburg. The organisation has strong and long-standing ties with the local community, and has been fighting for their rights since its inception.

DYP believes that every child deserves to be happy and having fun, no matter what the circumstances are. Therefore, they have embarked on a mission to revive the joy and laughter in the lives of children living without basic amenities in Diepsloot. Youth Project consists of a group of young men and women who live and breathe by the motto – smile today, change tomorrow!

Child abuse happens in every home, workplace and community. We do not want to see it happen in our home or community, which is why we launched Diepsloot Youth Project. Situated in the heart of South Africa, and with a strong presence in the local area, we are making a difference by providing a safe space for children to grow and develop safely.

We understand that every child is different, so we provide services that cater for their individual needs. From children’s development workshops to teen parent group meetings, there’s something for everyone at DYP. And our friendly volunteers are always there to lend a hand.

If you’d like to get involved but don’t know where to start, we’ve got you covered there too! We offer a range of different volunteer roles that can be flexible and suited to your lifestyle – from helping out during special events like our annual Easter egg hunt or Christmas party, to taking part in our monthly activities like movie nights or art classes. You could even be one of our future leaders if you’re interested in working towards becoming an education leader one day!

Youth are the future leaders, and it is our responsibility to equip them with the right skills, so that they can take over tomorrow. At Diepsloot Youth Project, we do just that. We equip youth with the skills they need to succeed in life. We offer a wide range of programs that will help you reach your goals. Programs include basic life skills, job readiness, and financial literacy classes. But we don’t stop there. We also run fun activities such as sports camps, arts and craft classes, and much more! Youth are the future of the nation and should be given all possible Encouragement and Support. The Youth Project is a community-based initiative that aims to provide holistic development to the alternate youth in Diepsloot. In addition to this, the project also focuses on providing them with job opportunities so that they can contribute towards the overall development of their area.

Diepsloot Youth Project is a community-based organisation that mobilises the youth to take ownership of the development in their area. We believe that empowering them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and resources will create tangible change in the lives of people in Diepsloot.

DYP’s programmes are designed to equip and empower participants with life skills that will help them succeed in school and in life. We provide them with opportunities to participate in leadership programmes, workshops on financial literacy, HIV awareness, self-esteem building, etc., which will help them take control of their future. The youth project has already seen tremendous results – over 200 of them have been enrolled so far and the enrolment is increasing by day.
