Many children are uprooted and displaced during war. Diepsloot Youth Project is working to help them build a new life in a new place. We focus on children who have been affected by war, and we believe their future can only be bright if they are given the opportunity to succeed in school and excel. Through our programs, they are developing the skills necessary for success, whether that is employment or further education.

We also offer guidance and support to parents so that they can be their child’s most important advocate. We believe in empowering them so they can advocate for their child’s education rights as well as their safety and wellbeing at home.

There are many reasons why a child or youth might end up in trouble, and sometimes it is due to the inability to overcome tough situations. At Diepsloot Youth Project an NGO based in Diepsloot, we understand that. We also know that when kids find strength in numbers and learn how to stand up for what’s right, they build confidence and resilience. Together, we’re changing lives for the better!

We offer a range of programs that offer hope and help to children who find themselves in difficult situations. Whether it’s through our Afterschool Program, our Youth Development Program, or our various other social services – we’re here for you. We believe every child deserves a chance at a better life – and with us by your side, you can make that possible!

Kids feel that they cannot express their views openly. They can’t say what they feel or think. And when they do, no one takes them seriously. The youth of today face the same sort of challenges and have been feeling alienated by the society. The Youth Project in Diepsloot is trying to make a difference by imparting valuable skills and knowledge that will stick with the kids forever.

The youth project offers a variety of classes for children aged 7-12 years old, covering topics like art and fitness, as well as leadership skills.

Kids learn new things every day at DYP and grow in confidence. They are now able to express themselves freely and hold their own opinions without fear of being judged or ridiculed. This is the power of Youth Project – harnessing it for change!

Youth Development is a keystone to a strong and vibrant civil society. Youth who are empowered are the builders of tomorrow and that has been Diepsloot Youth Project’s mantra since its inception. We believe in imparting skills to youth, so that when they become adults, they can take up their share and contribute to the development of their community. With over 15 years of experience, we have successfully imparted skills in various forms like skill training programs, short-term internship programs, job placements, etc.

We want our youth to be the change they want to see in their surrounding and we partner with NGOs, government bodies and institutions to make that dream a reality.

Is there anything you cannot do because you’re young? Diepsloot Youth Project answers in a big way. A non-profit social venture, DYP works towards developing the potential of marginalised youth by providing them with the necessary resources and opportunities to shape their own future. From empowering them with skills that are in demand today, to inspiring them to build a better tomorrow, they are doing it all. We believe in the ability of youth and that they can change and contribute positively to society.
