Diepsloot is one of the largest informal settlements in South Africa. It has been home to about 100 000 people for more than 50 years now. In this fast-paced world, we are constantly pushed towards achieving more and more. This can sometimes result in forgetting about the basics, like taking your time to relax and refuel. However, at Diepsloot Youth Project, we believe that every individual deserves to be treated equally, no matter what their background or status is. So, every month on the 2nd Sunday, we host a boxing class where adults and children alike come together to kick some ass!
No matter what language you speak or where you’re from across the globe, everybody loves a good fight! And at Diepsloot Youth Project, we have built our reputation on providing an inclusive environment where everybody can learn how to box or simply have fun while getting active. We teach proper technique and focus on proper balance so that fighting becomes as natural as breathing for you in no time!
Youth unemployment is becoming a global phenomenon. This can be attributed to the changing workforce and changing modes of work. We are all aware of the excellent opportunities available globally, yet youth are struggling to find a place in it.
DYP is providing young job-seekers with an opportunity to get their foot in the door. The Youth Project Boxer program offers boxing classes, mentorship, and job placements for young people who are looking to start their career. After a few months of rigorous training, they’ll be ready to tackle any workplace challenge. And since boxing is an excellent way to build strength and endurance, they’ll have no problem keeping pace with their colleagues.
