Youth unemployment is a growing problem in South Africa. For Diepsloot, it has reached alarming proportions, considering that this township houses a myriad of young talents and entrepreneurs. From designing clothes and footwear to running their own small businesses, these youth have what it takes to turn their ideas into reality. But with no access to the resources required for success, they often fall by the wayside.
Diepsloot Youth Project gives these young people an opportunity to stand on their feet and shine. Through workshops and mentorship programs, they learn how to create a sustainable business model from scratch. The result: a chance for these hard-working young people to make something out of their dreams.

Who says that children cannot be taught in schools? Diepsloot Youth Project is one such school which is changing the perception about schools teaching children.
Diepsloot Youth Project is a school for kids aged 6-18 years that provides them with an opportunity to develop their skills, interests and personality. The school believes in holistic education, where students learn not only academic subjects, but also social and emotional skills that will help them lead happy and successful lives. The classes are small so that teachers can address the needs of each child individually and provide guidance when needed. Classes are held Monday-Friday on a rotating basis, from 8:30am to 3:00pm. Classes are held at different locations across Johannesburg, but they always have space available for new students seeking a positive learning environment.

Youth Project Diepsloot is that space for them, and it’s where they feel safe and secure to be who they are. Youth Project Diepsloot is a youth development project that was started in 2012 by a team of volunteers who wanted to make a difference in the lives of South Africa’s youth. The project offers youths programs that aim to help them reach their full potential both socially and academically – completely free of charge. Through these programs, youth learn new skills, improve on existing ones, and build valuable life skills that will help them succeed in the future.
We believe that every young person can achieve anything he/she sets his/ her mind to, and so we strive to provide them with the resources necessary for success. We believe in the power of youth, and we know that with hard work and dedication, they can achieve anything!

If you go to Diepsloot, you’ll know that it is a place that has been stuck in conflict for quite some time. Underprivileged youth from the area take to the streets every now and then, protesting against the neglect they face on a day-to-day basis.
But what you don’t know is that there’s a project by Diepsloot Youth Project working tirelessly to change things for the better! In a bid to uplift the community and bring about positive change, this NGO has taken it upon itself to equip underprivileged youth with all it takes to succeed in life. And with their workshops, skills development programmes, and mentoring programs, they’re doing just that.
