With over 50% unemployment, Gauteng is one of the most economically unbalanced regions in the world. Youth unemployment rates are even higher, and this has a severe effect on their lives. There are many challenges that youth face when it comes to economic empowerment, and we at Diepsloot Youth Project want to be a voice for change. We believe that understanding these issues will help us build a better future, so we’re doing our part by sharing knowledge and empowering youth to change their community for the better!
Our program aims at engaging young people in learning new skills that will give them an edge when looking for employment in the modern world. We offer courses ranging from financial literacy, business development and marketing, upskilling on the latest technology trends to programming skills like web development and app design. Youth can choose from more than 40 different courses that suit their specific needs, and they’ll get guidance from our expert trainers who have years of experience in the field.
With unemployment rates climbing at an alarming rate in Gauteng, our youth are increasingly finding themselves jobless. In order to address this issue, Diepsloot Youth Project rolled out a program called Job Generation. Through this initiative, we provide short-term employment opportunities to underprivileged youth who would otherwise be unemployed and in need of income. With the help of Brand South Africa and UNDP’s Youth Empowerment Program, we have created a platform that will help drive progress towards sustainable development in the region.
