In our quest to understand why youth violence is on the rise in South Africa, we visited Diepsloot and met with young people who are affected by it. We were left speechless when they explained that their lives are being turned upside down due to the gang rivalry and they can’t take it anymore. This project aims to empower them and create awareness about youth violence so that change can be brought about in the area.
Join us in making this a turning point for our youth by donating generously today!
On Saturday, 24 March at Diepsloot Youth Project Cultural Programme, we had a grand showcase of different cultures. The event was organised by Youth For Unity and Awareness (YUVA), a project run by Brand South Africa to bridge the gap between different cultures through entertainment.
The day began with an energetic dance performance from the Deyrol kids followed by a cultural show from the Diepsloot youth project. Music was played all along and the event ran smoothly till the end. To top it all off, food stalls were set up for attendees where they could grab some quality grub. Do visit this quaint neighbourhood near Johannesburg and see how diverse it can be!
It’s a wonderful feeling to take part in something that you believe in and have fun while doing so. This is exactly what the youth project is all about. When you volunteer at Diepsloot Youth Project you not only get to learn new skills, but also feel accepted and appreciated for who you are. Not to mention the amazing cultural programme that they have on offer.
People need to see that there is more to ‘youth’ than violence, drugs and crime! Let’s break down those stereotypes and show our kids that there is so much more to life than being a gangster.
Let’s join forces and make a difference in our local community!
When you hear the word culture, certain images come to mind: colorful clothes, dance, music, and food. But what are some of the greatest things about it?
Culture is a way of life that binds people together. It teaches us new things every day and gives us a sense of belonging. It’s more than just an art form; it’s a way of life. And we want to give you a glimpse into the lives of those who live it.
Say hello to the Diepsloot Youth Project! They’re a group of young entrepreneurs from all around South Africa with a mission to inspire others through their cultural programs and teachings. Through classes like dance, craft, and food, they share their knowledge and experiences with others around them so that they too can be proud members of their culture!
Do you know that every culture has its own way of celebrating a big occasion? It’s true, and now you can experience the magic of Diepsloot Youth Project on a Sunday. During this cultural programme, you will get to know about Diepsloot’s culture and folklore through different dance forms like kaladas, tabla, pagadi and many more. You will also get to see live performances by different youth groups.
Don’t miss out on this wonderful experience; visit us instead!
