The Youth Project of Department of Human Settlements on the Diepsloot aims to understand these issues through various programs and activities. The team comprises highly qualified and skilled professionals who give the right guidance to the youth thereby making them realize their mistakes and take control of their lives. They believe in building a strong community where youth can learn new skills while finding employment with companies around them. It’s their duty to make sure that every youth has a bright future ahead of him.

Youth unemployment is a worldwide problem, but in South Africa, it is an epidemic. It’s not just about missing out on the experience of work or learning the value of money and time; it’s also about missing out on opportunities to shape their communities.

Diepsloot Youth Project is a program that has been developed over the last five years by the Department of Human Settlements (DHS) in Diepsloot. The goals of this innovative program are to enhance the holistic development of its participants, provide them with opportunities for gainful employment, and equip them with life skills and personal development. Program participants – both girls and boys – work on various community projects during their free time, and earn income through this work. They also receive education from the DHS about personal development, such as how to manage finances, etc.

In addition to this impressive list of achievements, the Youth Project has registered several success stories of children who were re-connected with their families after being lost or abandoned for many years.

But what about all the children who’ve grown up there? What about education, therapy and job opportunities for them? That’s why DYP is here! DYP has been helping people like you since 2009, by providing social and economic intervention services to young people in need. Services include: educational programs, mentoring programs, and skills training programs.
