Families were disturbed, children were scared and elderly persons felt insecure about their lives.

The elders decided that enough was enough – it was time to not just speak but take action against these criminals who were taking advantage of the helplessness of people in the neighborhood. They called upon all local youth to join forces and stand united against these lawless menaces who showed no respect or regard for anyone’s life in that area.

Children are known for their impulsive nature, which makes them vulnerable to getting trapped in mob-controlled justice. Take, for instance, the case of Diepsloot: a locality with a rich history and tradition. It’s also home to the Youth Project Diepsloot that aims at creating positive changes in the lives of children by teaching them about life skills like communication and conflict resolution.
