Youth unemployment is a serious issue in South Africa and Diepsloot Youth Project is here to change that. Founded in 2009, this non-profit organization has been working towards eradicating youth unemployment by employing and training the youth of Diepsloot.
DYP runs a variety of programs that aim to empower the youth and give them skills that will help them find employment. They run classes on accounting, finance, marketing, human resources, and many more skills that are in demand today. DYP also provides career guidance so that the youth can choose a path that suits him best.
In this day and age where information is at our fingertips, it’s important to realize how much we can learn from each other. By working with volunteers like us, you can make a difference in someone else’s life!
Diepsloot youth are the future of the city. They are the ones who will one day shape and change the landscape of Johannesburg. They will take on jobs of their choice, contribute to their community in various ways and shape their own futures. But for now, they are simply enjoying their youth.
With DYP, they get all that they need to have an enjoyable time while also doing some good for themselves and others around them. From sports and arts activities to nutrition classes, there’s a lot you can do with this program that is fun and useful at the same time!
Diepsloot is the city that never sleeps, and neither does the youth population of this metropolis. The Youth Project is all set to change that and make the youth pro-active in preserving the city’s life by improving health, education, empowerment, and employment prospects.
DYP is a non-profit organization working for over 25 years on changing lives through sustainable approaches. They believe that change starts with you and that it can achieve great things when you work together!
It is always exciting to see a new group of people coming together for the common goal of making a change. Meet the Diepsloot Youth Project – representing and standing for the youth of Diepsloot.
The Youth Project aims to empower young people by providing them with opportunities, skills and resources that will help them realize their full potential. Through various initiatives, we aim to promote holistic development among our wards and give them a sense of belongingness.
We would like to invite you all to join us on 21 January 2018 at Franschhoek Football Stadium from 4:00 pm onwards as we celebrate the launch of our first project – the Diepsloot Youth Project! We look forward to your support!
Could it be that the youth of today lack leadership qualities? They may have the ‘smarts’ for competition, but do they possess the skills to guide their peers and elders in the right direction?
Not if you talk to Diepsloot Youth Project. Every year, it organises a series of workshops and seminars to develop leadership qualities among its youth.
No wonder then that when they hosted their annual event recently, there was palpable excitement in the air. The workshop on effective communication skills had youth members excited as they discussed how to influence others to take up certain issues or propose new ideas. The workshop on social media was equally fascinating; after all, who doesn’t love networking? The interactive session on workplace etiquette was equally insightful; people are growing up today with a lot more life experience than their parents had, and they’ve adapted their way of communicating accordingly.
