Join the protests in Diepsloot! Youth from all over South Africa have come together to stand up against corruption, inequality and violence. We demand change and a better tomorrow for all South Africans. Come and stand with us as we tell our government that it has to do better!
Youth activism has gained worldwide recognition as a force to reckon with, especially among the youth in South Africa. They are the first ones to speak up for what they believe in and tackle challenges head on. The Diepsloot Youth Project is one such project that has given many young people the confidence to stand up for what’s right. What started out as a small protest to halt construction at an open space soon grew into a platform for youth voices to be heard.
The Youth Project was launched by local residents who were fed up with long-standing corruption and criminality in their community and wanted something concrete to change it. And so, they formed a non-profit organization along with local volunteers who decided they’d fight together till no one else could take on corrupt officials or criminals in the area, making sure that their voices are heard all over South Africa.
Youth are the future of the country. They are representing their ideologies, thoughts, and aspirations on different platforms. Youth these days take social media as a tool to express their non-verbal communications. Diepsloot Youth Project is one such organization that’s making its presence felt online by sharing the voices of youth who are protesting in the area.
From day one, we’ve been committed to empowering youth and giving them a voice. We believe that young people have important things to say, and they should be heard. That’s why we’re here – to give voice to the youth of Diepsloot and beyond.
The youth of Diepsloot have spoken! They’ve said they want better schools, safe roads, and clean water. It’s time for change in Diepsloot! All these years that we have been living under the thumb of corruption, it’s time to throw that out! Let’s make Diepsloot a better place to live in – one where people respect one another and work together for a better tomorrow. Let’s stand up for what we believe in and make a change! This is just the beginning – join us as we take on the system!
Youth empowerment has become a key agenda under the ANC’s #DistanceIsNoExcuse campaign. Within this context, Diepsloot youth decided to protest because their voices haven’t been heard. The Diepsloot Youth Project started three years ago with the aim of empowering homeless and runaway youth in Diepsloot, Pretoria.
Being able to live in a community where they feel safe and loved is important for these adolescents who have faced an uncertain life. They’re trying to find their place in the world and learn how to be successful adults. But that’s hard when you don’t have a home or family to turn to for support.
With your support, DYP aims to change that by providing them with everything they need: a home, food, health care and access to resources so they can take control of their lives.
Youth empowerment isn’t just about social programs; it’s about making sure the voices of those who are often marginalized are heard loud and clear. Through programs like DYP, we’re working hard every day to ensure that everyone has access to education, healthcare and opportunities for success – because no one should face discrimination or struggle because of who they are or where they come from.
