In the last few months, there have been several instances of crime in Diepsloot. Residents believe that the recent influx of illegal immigrants is one of the reasons behind this. Though the police have assured them that they are working on it, residents want immediate action. That’s why they’ve decided to take matters into their own hands by launching Diepsloot Youth Project.

This initiative aims to empower local kids by making them understand and take ownership of the problem being faced by their area. It educates them on how they can help prevent crime in their neighbourhood and other parts of South Africa, and also teaches them how to identify crime-inhibitory plants like bakgies and mimosa trees, which are an important part of every garden.

By joining hands with Diepsloot Youth Project, you’re not only doing your bit to make South Africa a safer place; you’re also giving these kids a sense of purpose and helping them realize their full potential.

In the face of a rapidly rising crime graph, why is the South African government turning a blind eye to it? While many are working towards finding solutions, Diepsloot Youth Project has decided to take action. The project aims at educating youths about crime and safety, so that they can help bring about change in their community.

Diepsloot residents are fed up with crime in the area and for which they blame illegal immigrants. They want the government to take immediate action but until then they have chosen to take matters into their own hands. Youth Project volunteers are helping them understand the ins-and-outs of policing, counselling and rehabilitation so that they too can play their part in making Diepsloot a safer place to live.

Sex traffickers, drugs, and crime are prevailing in Diepsloot. Residents don’t seem to be bothered by it. Mostly because they feel that the district is being taken over by illegal immigrants. And as per them, it’s about time something was done about it. So, the Diepsloot Youth Project was started with a clear goal – to rid their area of crime and chaos brought by outsiders.

With an aim to empower locals and help them take control of crime in their neighborhood, DYP volunteers have been visiting schools and community centers to spread awareness on ways to prevent child abuse, drug trafficking, and other crimes. They have also been working closely with police officials to bring about a change in the area as soon as possible.

Everyday, when you walk out of your home or grab a ride to work in Diepsloot, you feel unsafe. Crime has become the rule rather than the exception in some areas of the township. The youth there have also noticed this and are fed up with it. With a new-found sense of civic responsibility, they have come together to form a project that aims to make their neighborhood safer – Diepsloot Youth Project.

The project is an initiative by youth themselves and is aimed at making their neighborhood crime-free. They want tourists to feel safe while visiting and living in their area and they want law-abiding immigrants to be protected from being harassed by criminals who are looking for easy prey.
