Residents of Diepsloot are fed up with crime in their area. They blame it on illegal immigrants, who are entering the country by the thousands, taking jobs and housing, and threatening safety at every step. In this video, residents of the area speak out about this problem – and their solutions to it.

Diepsloot Youth Project has a solution to the growing crime problem in the area: illegal immigrants. The number of criminals in Diepsloot is increasing day by day and they are mostly controlled by illegal immigrants,’ says a resident of the area. We demand that government should start checking vehicles entering into country as early as possible, so that we can control crime related activities.’ The youth project, who reached out to us for an interview, shared these views with us too.

‘It’s very shocking to hear such things from a 30-year old lady, who is supposed to know about all these things. I think she is misinformed or doesn’t have enough knowledge about this issue,’ added one of her friends.

When crime prevails in an area, it spoils the ambience and makes people feel insecure. Kids also start associating crime with certain communities.

D Diepsloot Youth Project is about taking a stand against crime and making the area safe for everyone, regardless of your background or where you live. We have been working with the locals for many months now to help rid their area of illegal immigrants and other forms of crime. By conducting regular drive-by patrols and engaging with the community through various programs, we hope to make Diepsloot a safer place to live in.

Crime is a big problem in our neighborhood. The area has seen its fair share of burglaries, drug peddling and theft. We have even heard reports of sexual assaults taking place here. The local government hasn’t been able to do much about this, partly due to nonavailability of accurate data on crime.

In the face of rising crime, we decided to do something about it. We approached Diepsloot Youth Project and asked them to help us come up with a solution. They came up with an idea that would make the neighborhood safer while also enriching lives of those living there through their various employment and education programs.

It’s a known fact that crime and poor living conditions go hand in hand. And with nearly 10 000 residents of Diepsloot living in fear of being the next victim, they have decided to take matters in their own hands.

At Diepsloot Youth Project, we see crime not just as a nuisance but also an opportunity to change things for the better. We want our neighborhood to be a safe place for everyone, and we are determined to make it a reality. We organize community policing sessions, anti-crime drives, public awareness campaigns, and more so that everyone feels safe and secure no matter what time of the day it is.

We believe in working towards making our world a better place by standing up for one another and doing what’s right.
