Diepsloot residents have had enough of being ignored by the governing party and its leaders. The youth project in the area has compiled a list of reasons why Ramaphosa should pay them a visit if he’s really interested in solving the problems plaguing their community. The list includes issues like poor education, unemployment, drug abuse, and poor health care facilities.
It’s time for action, Mr. Ramaphosa!
The residents of Diepsloot have finally run out of patience. They want action from Ramaphosa government, but the only thing they are getting is rhetoric.
Symbolic action on ground is not enough for them, they want a change in the way things are being done. They want their leaders to be accountable and work with grit and determination. Some of the promises have been kept; some still remain unfulfilled. But when it comes to improving the quality of life and making the youth job ready, they haven’t done enough yet.
When a community takes to the streets, it means that they have finally had enough of being ignored. Residents of Diepsloot in Johannesburg have been demanding an audience with South Africa’s Deputy President Ramaphosa, who was recently elected to take over from Jacob Zuma. The youth of Diepsloot feel betrayed by the ANC’s continued fiscally irresponsible practices and are calling for change. Can Ramaphosa be the man for the job?
On the 18th of September 2014, residents of Diepsloot demanded a meeting with Deputy President Ramaphosa. They accused him of ignoring their plight and trying to change the image of their township. Things are bad in this township, they say. Crime is rampant, children are malnourished and women are being raped on a daily basis.
The deputy president’s office has been informed that the meeting was called for 7:00 pm today and should be attended by officials. Who will attend this meeting? Make it count!
Residents of Diepsloot have been extremely upset with Ramaphosa’s failure to tackle persistent crime in their area. From drive-by shootings to muggings, the lack of action has left them feeling vulnerable and unprotected.
Now is the time for change. Join us as we demand that Ramaphosa takes action and cracks down on crime in Diepsloot!
