Crime is a rampant problem in our neighborhoods. We can’t stand by and accept the state of things anymore. The Youth Project is going to do something about it. Join us as we protest against crime and work towards making Diepsloot a safer place to live in. Together, we can make a difference!

We will be holding protests every Saturday at 12pm at the Diepsloot Police Station. We will be raising awareness about crime, protesting against it, and working towards making our neighborhoods a safer place to live in. Let’s show the criminals that their heinous acts will not go unpunished!

Residents of Diepsloot, a predominantly black area in Johannesburg, have had enough. After years of being conflict-hit, they are now calling out for action. On Sunday afternoon, they blocked off several roads and demanded that their safety be the top priority. The cause? The recent spate of violent crimes targeting the community.

‘We can’t just keep quiet when our sisters and brothers are being attacked on our streets,’ declared one resident to Times LIVE. ‘This has to stop now.’

Crime is a major issue in our society and affects people of all ages. The residents of Diepsloot are no different; they are afraid during the night and want the criminals to be caught and punished. So, in true spirit of giving back to the society, Diepsloot Youth Project organizes regular meetings with the people of the area to discuss ways to tackle crime. Meetings are attended by elected representatives, police officials, and social workers. What started as an initiative has now become a platform for locals to express their concerns and also provide suggestions on how to stay safe.

Diepsloot residents are fed up with the increasing number of crimes taking place in their area. They have decided to raise their voice against it and ask the government to step in. Youth Project Diepsloot, a youth development programme being run by the Johannesburg Administration, is one of the many ways in which residents are trying to fight crime in their community. The project has been running for 3 years now, and during that period over 200 young men have been trained to become productive members of society.

Crime is rampant in Diepsloot and residents are fed up of it. They want change now! On Saturday afternoon, a group of residents gathered at the local police station to register their dissatisfaction. Led by Ward 33 councillor Mpho Nce’ Phal, the group expressed that they cannot tolerate crime any more. We are all human beings here; we should all be treated equally,’ said a resident while demanding swift action from the law enforcement agencies. With crime taking its toll on both the mental health and safety of residents in this impoverished area, there is a call for community members to come together and fight against it!
