We’ve all been there. Times are tough, you’re trying to make ends meet, but every once in a while you catch a glimpse of hope around the corner. It looks like something is changing for the better – and it feels good. That’s when we decided to step up and help the youth of Diepsloot come together.
Why DYP? Because we know that if you want to make a difference, you have to be where it matters most. And that’s why we call Diepsloot home – because it matters to us. We want to give these young leaders hope, strength and motivation by empowering them with opportunities they can’t find anywhere else. It’s our way of saying thank you for everything they’re doing for their community – and it’s our time to shine too!
A project that aims to provide youth with a sense of purpose, intrinsic motivation, and development in all areas of life. This is the story of the Diepsloot Youth Project 2.0 now run by the Diepsloot Secondary School.
Diepsloot Youth Project 2.0 has been running successfully since 2016, and during this time many students have been benefitted by it. The project aims to foster leadership, teamwork, and self-worth within young people – so that they can be successful both in school and life after school. Students are guided along their journey by trained volunteers who are there to support them every step of the way. These volunteers work hard to create a positive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions or sharing concerns – because they know that everyone deserves an education without discrimination or ridicule.

Diepsloot is an area that is infamous for its crime and violence. In order to tackle the problem from different angles, the Diepsloot Youth Project has come up with a youth empowerment program that aims to help children acquire skills that will help them in the long run. Around 200 children have already benefited from this program, and it shows no signs of stopping soon.
The project initially started with encouraging activities like music workshops and cooking classes for the kids. But soon, they started getting involved in helping their parents at home or participating in community programs as well.
