For many, the word taxi conjures images of a sedan or an Uber or Lyft car. But what about Diepsloot Taxi Rank?

Diepsloot Youth Project is working to change that perception by running free taxis in Diepsloot Extension 7. The project has already run more than 1000 taxi rides and counting, with no signs of slowing down. With pitstops at popular hangouts including Peppi’s Place, Hoodz cafe and other landmarks in the neighbourhood, it’s safe to say that everyone knows about DYP now.

Who likes to save on cabs? We do, but unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case where we live. So we decided to start a taxi rank in our neighborhood – Diepsloot Youth Project!

We registered the taxi rank with the Taxi of America and started operating it last Sunday. The signboard says ‘Diepsloot Youth Project Taxi Rank’, so even if you are not aware of what it is, you know where to find one! Our aim is to make sure that our neighborhood gets affordable cabs so that people can easily get around without having to worry about being late for work or college.

There are 7 Taxi Ranks run by the Youth Project, each representing a different class of transportation. Whether it’s an air-conditioned car or an old but trusty rickshaw, you’ll find what you’re looking for.

Do you feel tired riding on public transport? Then try Das Taxi! It is a state-of-the-art taxi service that has been launched to provide residents with a hassle-free transportation. The company is operated by Diepsloot Youth Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to making life easier for the residents of Diepsloot.

Das Taxi has modern air-conditioned taxis as well as affordable and efficient minibuses that can be booked in advance, making it easy for everyone to get around. From picking up passengers at their doorstep to taking them safely to their destination, Das Taxi takes care of everything so that you can focus on the important things in life.

One thing that all of us take for granted is being able to hail a cab and be assured of a ride. But for many, this is not possible in their locality as there are not enough cabs available. The Youth Project aims to solve this problem by encouraging locals to own and operate their own taxi service.

The project has been around for more than two years now, growing in leaps and bounds with each new member. Its goal is to empower youth from the area and give them an opportunity to realize their dreams and aspirations. With the support of local authorities, they run a fleet of 30 cabs that service residents daily. Also, they run a 24-hour call center where they dispatch taxis to any destination requested.
