We believe in planting trees to take care of them, and we also believe in taking care of the trees so that they can take care of us. That is why we are hosting a tree planting programme at Diepsloot Youth Project. Over the weekend, volunteers planted trees in the area, which will ensure a continuous supply of oxygen and shade for residents and wildlife. We ask you to come celebrate this green initiative with us!

Have you ever felt the irresistible urge to be a part of something big? Something that makes an impact and changes the lives of many people? We have, and we call it DYP for short!

DYP is all about changing lives in an overwhelming manner. We do that by planting trees all around us. Not just any tree, but it has to be one that can withstand the harshness of South Africa. This tree has to be strong and can offer endless amount of fruits and vegetation.

But why should we plant a tree? There is a reason behind it, you know! All these trees are planted because they can help curb soil erosion, increase carbon sequestration, and help us fight climate change. In short, they play a major role in making our planet greener and sustainable. And guess what? When we plant trees together as one unit, just like DYP does, everyone gets involved in making a difference!

When did you last plant a tree? How many new trees have you planted in the last month? In the last year? For many of us, planting a tree has become an annual tradition. But, in the world we live in today, it is more important than ever before to participate in planting trees.

Diepsloot Youth Project’s Tree Planting programme is all about spreading awareness on the importance and benefits of planting trees. By participating in this programme, you are contributing to the greener environment and slowing down climate change. Not to mention, planting a tree can save lives by providing shelter for animals and humans alike. These are just some of the reasons why it is important that we participate in this programme.

Planting trees is an act of kindness – so why wait? Join us!

When you think of a tree planted for the first time, the image that comes to mind is probably one of a little kid holding a shovel and digging in dirt. But what about planting trees? When we plant trees, do we think of them as plants or animals? What is it like to plant a tree? And when you look at the Diepsloot Youth Project’s Tree Planting programme, your answer will be different altogether.

Tree planting projects like this change the world for good, and there are thousands of such organisations helping us do that. Let’s join them and make it count!

An hour’s drive outside of Johannesburg, on the outskirts of Diepsloot, a group of volunteers is going green in their efforts to combat climate change. On Monday 18 May, over 150 children and youth took part in a tree planting campaign organized by the Diepsloot Youth Project.

The project was founded in 2015 by two local partners – the Youth Trees Program and Ekurhuleni Climate Change Initiative – with the aim of inspiring people to take action against the effects of climate change. By planting trees and committing to sustainable living practices, they believe that they are helping to reverse global warming and saving our planet for future generations.

“We can’t wait any longer to take action,” said Riaan de Jager, one of the volunteers who helped out on the day. “We’re not just planting trees for ourselves but for our children and grandchildren too.”

Diepsloot Youth Project has achieved so much already, but they have bigger plans for the future. The aim is to plant a million trees in South Africa by 2030, which will have a significant impact on our environment and help us fight climate change. Join them today!
