You know when someone has a heart for the youth? Someone who is not afraid of the difficult situations and challenges, but willing to stand beside them till the end. That’s what DYP is all about.
DYP founder Tumi Khoza started Youth Project in Diepsloot in 2013 with an aim to empower and uplift the youth of her community. In a place where crime is on the rise and violence is common, she decided that it was time to come up with a change.
Not only does she teach them to be strong and independent people, but also teaches them important life skills that will help them create their own beautiful lives and success story. They learn how to budget properly, set goals in life and take responsibility for their actions. And above all, they are taught that you have to compromise and work as a team in order to achieve your dreams.
The Youth Project runs a shoe-shine service every Saturday from 10AM-12PM at Diepsloot Mall, which provides free shoes shined by volunteers with smiles on their faces! Plans are underway for expansion of programs as well as community outreach soon, so watch out for updates on DYP!
Diepsloot Youth Project is a non governmental organization that aims to empower the youth by providing them with sustainable, life-changing initiatives. Every year, the project conducts an extensive survey where they ask the youth about their needs, challenges, and expectations. This invaluable data helps them create meaningful initiatives that will ultimately change lives for the better.

You wanted to make fresh changes in your life and have a new start. We heard your voice loud and clear because this is what drives us every day – to help every individual in need of change for the better!
Diepsloot Youth Project is an initiative by the Diepsloot Municipality to build a strong, self-sufficient and just society while nurturing the next generation in our community. In partnership with local organizations, we run programs that teach life skills, leadership and entrepreneurship to underprivileged children and young adults. The youth project also aims to raise awareness about social issues that affect us all so that together we can make a difference.
We believe everyone deserves a chance at success and we’re committed to helping kids realize their full potential. Our programs provide the necessary tools for successful living, including education, skills development, and job training. They also teach important life skills like conflict resolution and perseverance that will help them succeed in today’s challenging economy.

Diepsloot is an area that has been facing multiple challenges in the recent past. Youth there have been committing crimes due to poor socio-economic conditions, a lack of opportunities and lack of guidance. And when it comes to mentorship, there are hardly any available for them. This is where Diepsloot Youth Project comes into picture.
This project introduced by a young entrepreneur from the area aims at changing the mindset of youth and giving them tools that can help them change their lives for better. It introduces them to entrepreneurship and helps develop soft skills so that they can be employed on day one in their new jobs. It also provides assistance with transportation, clothing and other basic needs as per their requirement. In short, DYP has helped creating a safer environment for the youth to live in.

It provides education, employment, and life skills training so that they can take charge of their lives and become confident.founded by Ms. Melissa Jupe, the project believes that every individual has the innate ability to do amazing things if given the right opportunity.
