Youth empowerment is not just about thinking outside the box or joining hands for a cause. It’s about taking a step forward, making an impact and turning into an agent of change in their own lives and in the lives of others. This is what Diepsloot Youth Project has been doing since its inception in 2004. Every year, they organize team-building workshops that focus on HIV-AIDS awareness, sexual health, and nutrition.

These workshops are attended by youth from all walks of life, including students, housewives, and professionals. They take place at different locations across Johannesburg and Cape Town and are completely free of cost!

It’s not just HIV-AIDS that is wreaking havoc on the lives of people living with the disease in Diepsloot – it’s also stigma and discrimination. At this Youth Project, we are committed to breaking down these barriers so that people living with HIV can be who they are most proud of – and so that no one has to suffer in silence.

We provide comprehensive services to help people live as normal a life as possible, free from fear and stigma. We offer treatment and support, a place to stay, meals, activities and much more. Our friendly staff is here for you 24/7 whenever you need them, so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you ever worried about someone living with HIV or AIDS.

Diepsloot youth project is a developmental nonprofit organization working towards making a difference in the lives of the residents of Diepsloot. Driven by a passion for making a difference, DYP has been around for over 25 years, and today it is more active than ever before. The youth project provides support services like life skills training, counseling, and group sessions, to name a few. It also runs workshops where kids teach adults about HIV-AIDS and related issues.

DYP’s work isn’t limited to Diepsloot only; they have collaborated with other NGOs and organizations across the globe. If you want to make a difference but don’t know where start or what you can do – then this is your chance! Pick up where they left off and be their change in the world today!

Youth are the future of our country, and it is important that they have a say when it comes to issues that affect them. In this regard, we at DYP believe that it is important for us to reach out and involve our youth in programs that will help them grow into more responsible citizens.

One such program is HIV-AIDS. It is important that the youth understand what HIV-AIDS is and the importance of getting tested for it. It is also important for them to know about prevention methods and how to stay safe when contracting it!

Through Diepsloot Youth Project, we are reaching out to as many youth as possible so they can be informed and prepared!

Our city’s youth are slowly but surely transforming it into an urban haven. But where do they find the resources and inspiration to make that possible?

What is your heritage? When you think of it, do you feel proud and connected to what you and your family stand for? Or do you feel disconnected?

Roughly 80,000 South Africans live in Diepsloot, a township in Johannesburg. Although they grew up there, most don’t know much about their history, ancestry or connection to the land. That’s why Diepsloot Youth Project is launching Heritage Programme, an initiative that will teach people about their roots and connect them with the land.

Visit DYP’s website for more information on how you can get involved!

Have you heard of the magic of Diepsloot? If not, then you’re missing out on something special. This is a project that celebrates the contributions of young people in shaping their community. And it’s gaining momentum by the day!

Diepsloot Youth Project is changing lives one by one. They are helping children to read, write and count; teaching them how to be good citizens; and making them aware of the world around them.

The youth are carrying forward our glorious heritage as proud South Africans, who care about their home, their community and their families. They are making a difference with every smile they share and every act of kindness they perform.

‘Don’t call it a day just yet.’ This is what the Diepsloot Youth Project’s Heritage Programme encourages young people to say. By imparting invaluable knowledge on the history and culture of South Africa, they are strengthening their sense of belonging, as well as their capacity to engage with society.

‘Do you know why Johannesburg has so many statues? It’s because of its rich history,’ explains project director Sizwe Nyandeni. ‘Through our programme, we’re trying to empower these young people so that they can contribute meaningfully to society one day.’

Diepsloot Youth Project is about creating change for the better; and nothing could be more meaningful than this.
