After the rains stop and you throw out your old clothes, furniture, and other unwanted items, you know it’s time to start cleaning up. But what about that junk that adds up to our landfills? The answer is as simple as it sounds – recycle! Where else can you use an item multiple times without worrying about its durability?

This is why we collect unwanted items for redistribution at our youth project in Diepsloot. For two hours every Saturday, children and volunteers from different communities come together to clean the streets, parks, and pathways of waste. Not only does this make Diepsloot a more livable place, but also helps us reduce the burden on landfills! Join us in making Diepsloot a greener place to live by recycling now!

When it comes to illegally dumping waste, Diepsloot is leading the pack. From plastic and paper to metals and other miscellaneous items, the area is giving rise to an economy that’s propped on junk. Not just the locals but also tourists are getting attracted towards this novel way of making some quick bucks. The youth of Diepsloot have started taking initiatives to clean up their area and make it a better place for everyone – be it a resident or a passerby.

When you see a heap of garbage on the side of the road, do you assume it’s there for all eternity? If so, then you’re wrong.

In this modern world where everything is supposed to be recycled and reused, it’s rather surprising that we still see heaps of garbage like these scattered across our city. That said, these types of waste economy are not new in Diepsloot – they’ve been around for years now. And while some might say this problem will disappear with time, we want to change that perception right now!

It is illegal to dump waste in Diepsloot. But, it’s a disturbingly common sight there, with children picking up and taking away the garbage on their own. Not only is this dangerous for them but also detrimental to the environment.

DXP aims to change that. With a team of dedicated volunteers and a fleet of vehicles, we collect illegally dumped waste from around Diepsloot and shift it to the nearest recycling centre. This waste is then converted into energy, which helps power Diepsloot and surrounding areas. We hope this will inspire others to join us in working towards a greener future where all are treated equally, no matter their race, gender or religion!

Waste not, want not! If you live in Diepsloot and have noticed that the area is filthy and full of garbage, then this is for you. Illegal dumping has become a menace in this locality, and it needs to be checked at once. The Youth Project Diepsloot has come up with an apt solution to this problem. As part of their initiative, they have organized a cleanliness drive on Sunday’s. Kids from the age group 8-14 are participating in this drive and will spread awareness about waste disposal among people who live in the area.
