The youth of Diepsloot cannot afford to be complacent when it comes to their lives and livelihood. Youth Project aims to change that by providing them with a sustainable source of income. With the help of local businesses, they provide trainings in different skill sets, such as tailoring, carpentry, or painting and selling their products.
Youth Project is not only changing the future of Diepsloot youth; it’s also changing the future for those who come in contact with them through their products and services.
The youth of the Diepsloot township are some of the most vulnerable in South Africa. They’re vulnerable to HIV, AIDS, and other infections as well as unemployment and poverty.
But what if there was a way you could combine your passion for helping these youths find their footing with earning a living? That’s what Diepsloot Youth Project has done. The program combines financial literacy training with a sustainable livelihood project that offers participants an opportunity to build a brighter future for themselves. Not only is this the perfect program for those looking to change their lives for the better, but it also offers a unique experience that can’t be replicated anywhere else in South Africa.

The youth of Diepsloot are getting their hands dirty by working with local artists, artisans and craftspeople. This programme aims to provide young people in the area with sustainable income so that they can develop themselves holistically.
Through this initiative, the youth are creating a ripple effect where every participant makes a meaningful contribution to the surrounding community.
When children reach a certain age, they start feeling bored and restless. They want to explore the world around them and test their limits.
At this stage of life, they often feel that there is no need to stick to one place for long. They want to move out of their comfort zones and take an international trip by themselves. This is what Diepsloot Youth Project has been doing for the past 9 years.
Our name says it all – we’re a youth project that helps young people take control of their lives and achieve their goals, one job at a time. We believe that by providing participants with the necessary skills and knowledge, they can become self-employed contributors to their communities.
We run a number of programmes that cover a diverse range of topics, from financial literacy to soft skills. Participants attend classes in the mornings, and are provided with lunch and breakfast every day. In addition, we run workshops throughout the week to help them develop key life skills, such as how to write a CV or negotiate a salary. Our goal is to help participants realize their full potential – both in terms of career development, and personal growth.
