Diepsloot is home to many homeless youth who, in addition to making a living, also make do for themselves. With the help of Youth Project, they are able to have their own space where they can rest and relax. The initiative has been running for the past 3 years, and has seen significant growth over this time. They have furnished the space with necessary furniture and appliances so that the youth can feel at home while they are there.

The project has grown out of a desire to help these kids realize their full potential, by providing them with the tools they need to achieve it. This includes access to education and employment, as well as building assets like self-esteem and confidence.

Diepsloot Youth Project is a program that aims to create employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for youth in the area. The idea is simple yet powerful – connecting youth with an employer who offers a stable job wherein they can learn important life skills, while also creating a small business for themselves.

This way, the youth gains valuable experience in both areas and is able to take control of his or her life.

What do you do, when your world is all falling apart because of a criminal act? Do you take it all in your stride or do you give up and commit suicide? Well, that’s what the youth in Diepsloot decided to do. The youth there who were once happy and full of energy are now full of dread and fear. They no longer want to go anywhere or do anything. They have become jaded due to seeing their neighborhood being destroyed by criminals every day. At least they can still call home their Youth Project.

Providing shelter, food, clothing, and most importantly, safety from the perpetrators, the Youth Project has been a haven for those who need help the most in Diepsloot. All thanks to its hardworking volunteers, and an endless supply of resources.

Diepsloot is one of the most developed areas in South Africa, and many believe that it’s reached its peak. But, there are youth groups like the Diepsloot Youth Project which work tirelessly to keep the spirit of entrepreneurship and development alive. They aim to provide youths with a sense of purpose and leadership, while also equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge they need to take advantage of the changing economic landscape.

DYP is an initiative run by volunteers who want to give back to their community in a meaningful way. From managing social media accounts to facilitating workshops and mentorship programs, DYP volunteers work hard every day to make a difference.
