‘Youth are the future’ is a common saying that applies to anyone, but when it comes to urban youth, it’s the hardest to believe. But with the Youth Project Makro Diepsloot, you will know what youth means in today’s world. Makro Diepsloot is all about empowering youth by giving them a voice and teaching them life skills.

It was started by two young girls who wanted to make a difference in their community, so they took it upon themselves to start a project that would help the people around them. The motto of this project is simple: ‘Be heard and be wise’.

It’s youth unemployment – and there’s no quick fix solution that can be employed to solve it overnight. While many see this as an issue that will never go away, we see it as an opportunity to build a better future for our kids. That’s why we launched the Makro Diepsloot project, a sustainable business model designed to provide job opportunities and skills training for young South Africans in need.

DYP is a non-profit organisation that operates on a shoe-string budget and through volunteer efforts alone. We are just one of the many organisations working tirelessly for a better tomorrow for our children, and we hope that you will join us in making that change.

Unique to every individual, it’s a place that can evoke different sentiments in us each time we return. Some come back happily reminiscing about their time spent there, some come back with new memories, and still others come back feeling nostalgic as they recall fond moments spent at the same place. In this project, we aim to change perceptions about home ownership and how it can impact your life by doing something big: changing lives in a big way.

DYP Makro Diepsloot is an initiative by Diepsloot Youth Project aimed at providing affordable housing solutions to individuals and families who would otherwise be unable to make such an investment.
