Mandela was a pioneer who fought for equality and democracy, which we all aspire for. In celebration of this event, we’d like to share a story from our youth project in Diepsloot. Mandela visited the area around 25 years ago, where he met with school kids and discussed about life, equality, and democracy. We’d like to proudly share one of his quotes with you today:
“We are one people indivisible in diversity… Our dignity is our freedom; our independence is our present and our future.” – Nelson Mandela
Mandela was imprisoned in the 1960s after fighting against the Apartheid regime. During his 27 years of incarceration, he emerged as one of the most influential freedom fighters and global icons ever. Mandela is the embodiment of perseverance, dedication and commitment. Mandela stands for equality and justice. He inspires us to stand up for what we believe in and work tirelessly towards it. Join us as we celebrate Nelson Mandela’s birthday by creating awareness about youth issues, promoting youth empowerment and calling upon all youth across SA to speak up against violence!
