Diepsloot is a township in Soweto, South Africa. The youth of this area are fighting all odds to make their lives better and educating themselves is one way through which they can do that. Youth Project is a non-profit organization working for the underprivileged and marginalized children in Diepsloot. They don’t have schools or even proper homes, but they do have a project that is making an impact on their lives one kid at a time!

Vhadzimu Primary School – Diepsloot provides a holistic education to its students. Besides teaching them subjects by syllabus, they also teach them life skills like how to lead a happy and balanced life and take decisions wisely so that they can be equipped with all that they need to face the future with confidence. The school also has regular programs where kids get involved in sports and other activities that keep them physically fit.

The project was started by TN Education Department in 2012 to help these students thrive in the new environment. Besides providing them with all-round education, the school also provides extra tutoring and classes that help them understand their new language and adapt to it.
