The seed of an idea for a children’s literacy project in Diepsloot was planted by a group of volunteers who wanted to make a difference. The after-school classes run for about half a day at Muzomuhle Primary School and aim to teach children the basics of reading and writing. They are also an opportunity for the kids to learn new things and have fun at the same time. Besides, it gives parents and guardians a chance to interact with other parents while their children play together.

DYP has been running in Muzomuhle since last year, and there are many volunteers who help out with teaching the kids, creating engaging activities, maintaining space, and organizing events like art sessions or break-time games!

Diepsloot Youth Project is an NGO that works towards changing the lives of at least 50 children by the end of this year. The project was set up by Muzomuhle Primary School in Diepsloot and aims to provide holistic education to at-risk youth. We aim to change their outlook, help them get back on track, and build a future for them.

We are a one-stop solution that helps our students learn the fundamentals of formal schooling alongside life skills like financial literacy, time management, and leadership. Our approach is holistic because we recognize that every child is unique – which is why we offer balanced programs that teach both academics and life skills. We challenge these kids to be positive members of their communities while they’re still young so they can have successful futures ahead of them!

The youth of today are smart, educated and aspirational. They want to change the world and make it a better place. We think so too, which is why we started Diepsloot Youth Project as a way to empower young people and give them the skills they need to achieve their dreams.

We run programs that teach valuable life skills like teambuilding, time management, and financial literacy. Students also learn about important issues like bullying, respect, and gender equality.

But our programs don’t stop there. We also offer enrichment classes that help our students develop critical thinking skills and enhance their academic performance. And last but not least, we offer after-school programs that give our children structure and support during the day.

From the age of 5, children join their school where they learn about various subjects. And what better way to learn than by actually practicing? The Diepsloot Youth Project aims to make this possible for the underprivileged children in our society. Every day, they attend their school and participate in various activities.
