Gender-based violence is prevalent in Diepsloot. Every day, women and girls are attacked, harassed and insulted due to their gender.

This project has come to change the mentality of the perpetrators and provide a safe space for the survivors to voice their concerns. The project partners have spent years working with these juveniles who have been victims of abuse and trauma. Through counseling sessions, art workshops, and other creative programs, they aim at helping these youths recover from their ordeal.

In addition to this, they clean up the area by planting trees, installing solar panels for energy supply and changing drainage system in order to improve hygiene in that area.

Gender-based violence (GBV) is a serious issue that needs to be dealt with seriously. This holds true in Diepsloot, where women have traditionally faced a lot of pressure and discrimination due to their gender.

There are also many cases of abuse, being followed by the police, and being raped on daily basis by men. But thanks to Diepsloot Youth Project, this is changing. Over the years, we’ve worked closely with the local community to bring about positive change and help end violence against women. We’ve run workshops and training sessions so that both men and women understand what gender-based violence is, how it affects their lives, and how they can stand up against it together.

Gender-based violence is a reality that many women have to face in their lives, and the prevalence of it is highest in Diepsloot. A youth project located there aims to raise awareness about the issue and come up with solutions. Youth Project Diepsloot is a collaborative initiative between various NGOs and community members that works towards reducing GBV by empowering girls and women.

The aim of this youth project is to raise awareness about gender-based violence, empower girls, and reduce its occurrence in society. The Youth Project also focuses on developing skills amongst young girls so that they can stand up against violence and be strong enough to fight back against perpetrators of such crimes.

A community that has been plagued with gender-based violence for almost 70 years can be considered as a rotten one, and Diepsloot is the living example of such a name. It is estimated that 1 in 5 women in South Africa has faced sexual violence. This is a reality that cannot be ignored anymore.

The youth of this area have to take up the responsibility of bringing about a change in the society they live in. They have to understand the root causes of this phenomenon and work towards eradicating it from die.

Gender based violence is a global issue that impacts one in three women. In Diepsloot, the issue is no more a taboo. The Youth Project Diepsloot is working to fight this scourge and make this area safe for Girls.

You can join them and help us in our mission to eradicate gender-based violence from Diepsloot!
