Rinku Das is a bright student of Class VIII. Sadly, he also has a criminal history. “He is the only boy in his school committing crimes,” says his teacher. Rinku hasn’t been caught for stealing anything yet, but his mistakes are becoming more frequent. He often gets into fights and misbehaves in class. His teacher doesn’t know how to deal with him.

“How can I teach my child if no one can control him? He’s out of control,” says Rinku’s father in despair. But then one day, he finds out about Diepsloot Youth Project Sports against Crime. It is an organisation that runs after-school sports activities for children who have lost their way due to crime or other socio-economic problems like poverty. After interacting with them, the father decides to send Rinku there every day after school till the end of the year so that he could get back on his feet again and learn to control himself and be a good citizen once again!

In this project we see the power of sport! It teaches discipline, respect, and most importantly the meaning of teamwork that every child should learn from a young age. We encourage all parents

One of the biggest challenges in keeping our neighbourhoods crime-free is because most kids are not interested in participating. But, when they see action and a real chance to make a difference, they rush to get involved. That’s why Diepsloot Youth Project has decided to take sports to kids in the neighbourhood – with a goal of ending violence and crime.

DYPS is making a difference by employing youths from the community and empowering them through training and employment opportunities. Through teamwork, mentorship, and the desire to make a difference, DYPS is creating change in their community that will last for generations. Join us today and become part of the solution!

Youth crime has been on the rise over the past few years, and it’s becoming more and more costly. Police in many areas are getting short of manpower and resources because of this, so what can they do? They arm themselves with sports!

DYP is a community-led initiative that aims to combat crime and other youth-related issues by promoting healthy living and participation in sports among the youth. Youth from various schools, clubs, or orphanages participate in various activities like cricket, football, volleyball, basketball, etc. They also organize sports camps where participants learn about life skills like discipline, respect for elders and their peers, etc.

We hope that this initiative will help keep our neighborhoods safe!
