Diepsloot is a neighborhood by the airport, and it’s a place where a lot of people live but don’t really know about its history. The youth of Diepsloot has decided to change this and have started an organization called Diepsloot Youth Project.

DYP aims to spread awareness about the importance of preserving the rich culture and heritage of the area. On their social media handles, they post information about local events, calendars, merchandise, etc., so that residents as well as tourists can get familiar with everything that’s happening in Diepsloot. They also host charity drives for organizations like Smile Foundation and Meals on Wheels South Africa without any expectation from the locals or volunteers. They’re just there to help enrich their community with something new, something motivating them towards becoming better citizens in their home country and abroad.

The youth of Diepsloot deserve better than what they get. They deserve a voice, a platform and the attention that’s due to them. Youth Project is all about ensuring that these young people are heard and are able to express themselves freely and without fear. This has been our aim since 2005, when we started serving Diepsloot. Youth Project is committed to working with the youth in Diepsloot in order to improve their lives and provide opportunities where it’s needed most.
