DYP’s commitment to helping vulnerable individuals is truly inspiring, and we look forward to seeing them again soon!
Diepsloot is one of the most underprivileged areas in South Africa. The Youth Project wanted to change this by offering opportunities to those living in this area. They organized a 2-day entrepreneurial boot camp where 10 aspiring entrepreneurs learnt about business, marketing, and how to run a successful company. These budding young minds are now ready to take on the world!
“It can be done!” says an excited Jehan about his new found confidence, “I didn’t think I could run a business but with Diepsloot Youth Project by my side, I know I can achieve anything.”
The Youth Project is determined to create a better future for those living in Diepsloot – and they couldn’t do it without the support of the Zola community. Thank you!
In-camps are all fun and games during summer vacation, but for some, it’s about something more. Diepsloot Youth Project is a long-term youth development program that aims to build the confidence and character of its participants. The project visited Diepsloot on Sunday to educate and uplift the youth on various topics.
A team of 15 volunteers led by Riva Kuiper explained how they work in-depth with young people, how successful they have been in their endeavors, and what they can learn from them. Volunteers were invited by the municipality to reach out to the youth and attempt making a dent in shaping their lives positively.
We want our children to be selfless and caring citizens, who strive for what is right and aspire for better futures,” says Riva Kuiper, founder of Diepsloot Youth Project.”I believe that education is fundamental in shaping these traits. With this literacy camp we hope to inspire our community members by sharing stories from our world with them.”
