Its raining cats and dogs in Diepsloot. If you haven’t heard about this phenomenon, then it’s time you find out one of its kind. Gender-neutral youth project, DYP has been taking care of the kids living in the slums of South Africa for over a decade now. The shelter is home to hundreds of kids aged 18 months to 18 years old.
In addition to providing them with a safe haven and proper education, they are provided with food, clothing, and everything they need to survive. The volunteers that run this shelter work tirelessly to provide for these children and make sure that they have everything they need to succeed.
The weather may be rainy outside, but it doesn’t rain on DYP’s parade! We are happy to provide shelter and care for these amazing youth so that they can lead a happy and fulfilling life.
Weather in the city might be calmer but in Diepsloot, weather is rather unpredictable. It decides to change per its own will without any warning and it throws you off-guard. Just when you thought that it’s finally sunny outside, suddenly there are clouds hanging over your head and rain has started pouring out of nowhere!
So what do you make of such an unpredictable weather? In a way, Diepsloot Youth Project weather is like this too! But joking aside, DYP weather is easy to stand so long as you’re prepared for anything that could come your way. Why? They have all sorts of jackets, boots and umbrellas for every situation! Strapped by the good old motto – ‘Be Prepared’, DYP accessories keep one warm and dry during rainy days.
The sun is shining from all directions today so why not grab yourself a nice jacket from DYP or go on with your umbrella walk in the morning, if the weather changes unexpectedly.
Weather in Diepsloot, Gauteng, South Africa is usually pretty unpredictable. However, when there’s some sort of a warning that it’s about to start raining heavily and you still find yourself out without any umbrella or raincoat, you start feeling a bit disappointed.
That’s when DYP comes into play! DYP is an NGO that works towards changing the mindset of disadvantaged youth so that they can be empowered, and have a chance at living their best life. Since its inception in 2008, it has been working hard to change the lives of those who are in need. Through various projects and programs, they aim to provide shelter, clothing, food and most importantly education.
And just like this time round when weather turns bad suddenly, they help individuals get over the difficult times in real time by organizing donation drives and collecting donations online. They also invite celebrities to join them in spreading awareness and empowering others! All hail weather-changers!
When the weather takes a turn for the worse, it can be depressing. But at Diepsloot Youth Project, we know that there is a way to fight back and change your weather.
In DYP, we believe that every child deserves an equal chance to succeed. We provide them with:
1. A safe place to play and learn
2. Comprehensive services that help them achieve their goals
3. An environment in which they feel accepted and understood For more information about our programs or ways you can get involved, please visit us online or give us a call on 055 783 6801! Thank you!
It’s a sunny Tuesday in Diepsloot, and there’s a good vibe in the air. Kids are running around, laughing, and playing. The Youth Project is holding its weekly programme at the park, which involves games, arts and crafts. It’s a chance for them to socialise with other kids and learn new skills. Baldwin George is one of those kids. He loves music and dance, and hopes to become a choreographer one day.
“I really like the way that you teach us, because it’s fun,” he says as he dances along to some tunes. Weather in Diepsloot – where it’s always sunny!
