When you think of Johannesburg, you might not associate it with poverty. The city boasts of some of the most cosmopolitan areas across the globe, but there are also parts that are considered as impoverished areas and considered to be one of the biggest slums in South Africa.

So how does a city like Johannesburg work towards alleviating poverty in these areas? This is where Diepsloot Youth Project comes in handy!

Founded by an ex-lawyer with a passion for changing lives and making a difference, this project has been around for 4 years now and has made great strides towards improving living conditions in these areas. Through various events, workshops, sports tournaments, art exhibitions and more, they have helped improve the lives of hundreds of youth who live there on their own or through families.

We hope to see great things from this initiative in the future as they work towards making life better for these people!

We all have an idea about Johannesburg. But, what if we told you that your city is home to some of the poorest people in the world?

Yes, it’s true. There are slums and areas of poverty in Johannesburg where mostly black people live. This project is aimed at addressing the issues faced by these communities, and creating a brighter future for them.

Who says that Johannesburg is only for the rich and famous? There are many unassuming neighborhoods in the city which don’t get much attention. Join us as we discover some of these amazing places.

In Diepsloot, you won’t see a McDonald’s or Starbucks on every corner. Instead, you’ll find small mom-and-pop shops and quiet residential streets. But this neighborhood is anything but ordinary! It’s where people from all walks of life call home. And it’s where the Youth Project Diepsloot exists to give back to its community by providing programs that help youth gain important skills and build confidence.

Where do you think the poor live in Johannesburg? Not in some places, but all around us. The hassles they face on a daily basis are innumerable, and can be equally taxing.

Think about the kids who have to walk up to kilometers every day just to go to school. They’re forced to miss out on sleep and nutrition, and this is only because their parents cannot afford the school fee or transport.

The youth of Diepsloot understand what it means to be part of a marginalized group. And so, they’ve decided that enough is enough! With the help of Diepsloot Youth Project, they want to make a difference and uplift those living below poverty line.

We all know by now that when it comes to classifying a city, poverty is present in every nook and corner. The Diepsloot Youth Project wants to take things a step further and classify the parts of Johannesburg that are poor.

With this initiative, the youth project aims to spread awareness about the prevalence of poverty in different areas, and help those in need. And judging by the responses on social media, they’re off to a good start!
