When we partnered with Diepsloot Youth Projects in 2014, we understood their vision and knew they were on the right path. The training provided by DYWP dived deeper than simply honing skills under one roof. It gave them a much-needed understanding of what it means to be a leader, how to build strong partnerships, and most importantly – how to see results.

Nowadays, DYP has expanded from capacity building into leadership development programs for young girls with the aim of empowering them along the way. In 2018 alone, they’ve started several new programs across South Africa, including women’s empowerment forums and training for female youth leaders who want to do something about gender inequality in their communities!

Where there is a will, there is a way. And when it comes to making the change in a community’s mindset, experience has taught us that it takes time and patience.

For years now, we’ve been working on bringing about a change in the mindset of youth from underprivileged backgrounds by creating awareness on global issues like climate change and gender equality, through workshops and exhibitions. But now we’re stepping up our game with the capacity-building training program!

In a world where there is a lack of resources to empower youth and young adults, Diepsloot Youth Projects has been working towards creating awareness about youth development. With the help of Capacity-building training, participants get an insight into youth development and how they can be empowered. This year we will conduct training on Archives in partnership with the Department of Arts and Culture. We are planning to hold two mega-sessions featuring experts from fields like journalism and creative writing. The big names in these fields include former President Jacob Zuma, renowned actor Derick Jongebloed and many more!dia marketing and beyond, we want to equip them with all the skills they need to amplify their voice while also increasing awareness around these issues.
