Are you afraid of picking up diseases and losing your dignity? Do you feel that the only way out of this situation is drugs, alcohol and prostitution? Well, it’s time to change your mind! Youth Projects Diepsloot has been successfully working on promoting education as well as preventing drug abuse among youth in South Africa. We are a group of passionate volunteers who want to create awareness about AIDS/STI’s, Drugs, Prostitution and other social issues. We believe that one can live a healthy life without engaging in these activities.
Our motto is – Educate: Prevention is better than cure!
We know that drugs, alcohol and promiscuity can have harmful effects on your health and well-being. But what about AIDS? Or HIV? Maybe you’re unaware of the fact that there’s even a term for sex workers who contract these life-threatening diseases. With this project, we aim to educate youth about these issues and prevent them from making unwise decisions in the future.
This is an opportunity to make a difference not only in our community but also around the world by taking care of those who are less fortunate than ourselves. Let’s work towards a society free of discrimination and violence toward one another!
AIDS-affected people are like a burden on their families. They have to depend on others financially and emotionally. Diepsloot Youth Projects aims to change this perception by providing financial support and counselling services to AIDS-afflicted individuals. The project has been in operation for the last two years, and it has already provided assistance worth over R100 000.
We believe that every person deserves dignity, respect and opportunity, regardless of their background or circumstances. We want to make a difference by taking care of those in need and preventing them from falling prey to these social evils.”
Who says that? Sex is a learned behavior, and if you’re not taught about it at an early age, then you’ll surely end up getting exposed to it. This is why Diepsloot Youth Projects was started – to provide education about sex and unwanted pregnancies that are becoming increasingly prevalent in the area due to high incidence of sex crimes like rape and prostitution.
The approach of DYP is holistic, covering information on human rights, gender equality, sexual health etc. They also run free workshops where young people can learn how to protect themselves against STDs and how to keep safe online.
HIV is just one part of the bigger problem of AIDS. It’s a silent killer that makes way before no one notices, especially those who are already on their feet. That’s why we’re taking a stand and setting an example with our youth projects in Diepsloot.
Our project aims to spread awareness about HIV and AIDS as well as drugs and prostitution so that young people can make informed decisions about their lives. We understand the importance of educating our youth on these issues because they will be the ones who have to live with it in future!
We also provide free counselling services for those who need help in understanding their sexual orientation or gender identity, dealing with mental health issues like anxiety, depression, etc., and coping up with drug addiction. We believe that when you know how to fight your battles effectively, you’ll never feel alone in this world!
As we grow and expand our reach across South Africa, we hope to see more people fighting against AIDS together! So follow us on Facebook or Instagram for more updates from us #DYP_Prevention_Control_of_AIDS_Drugs_and_Prostitution
