In 2017 alone, extreme weather events like hurricanes and wildfires have caused over $300 billion in damages around the world. Health experts say that this could be just the beginning of a new climate crisis – one that threatens our mental health as much as it threatens our planet’s survival.

Feeling helpless and hopeless about the effects of climate change on our planet? Well, we have a solution: get involved!

The Diepsloot Youth Project is an initiative that aims to empower youth by teaching them the importance of environmental conservation. In partnership with the local government, it has started a special program for children aged 7-15 where they learn about climate change and ways to tackle it. They also attend workshops on health issues related to global warming. Children are taught how they can reduce their carbon footprint while also helping save trees and other precious resources.
