Children may not be able to understand the need for gender-based violence prevention, but their voices can make a change. We are proud of Diepsloot Youth Projects for working towards the elimination of gender-based violence in our society. DYP is an NGO that works with children and adolescents who have survived or experienced trauma due to sexual abuse, physical abuse, trafficking, or other forms of violent attacks. They provide education on gender-based violence and its consequences as well as counseling services to help children heal from these experiences.

We hope they will soon be able to live without fear and stigma associated with being a survivor of gender-based violence!

This is a call to action for children and youth who are growing up in Diepsloot. Gender-based violence is taking place daily somewhere in the world. This affects girls more than boys and women more than men. We are seeing more and more rape cases being reported every day, but this should not be normalised. The culprits must be brought to book quickly, scold that they cannot get away with it anymore! Our kids want safety now, not just when they are adults! We need to do something about it now.

South Africa is well aware of the prevalence of gender-based violence in our society. This crime affects men, women, and children from all walks of life and can be committed by anyone. To help prevent this unnecessary violence, we haveDiepsloot Youth Projects.

Diepsloot Youth Projects is a non-profit organization that provides support to survivors of gender-based violence as well as people who are at risk of becoming victims. We believe that every human being has the right to live a safe and peaceful life without fear or prejudice, free from gender-based violence. We offer counseling services for those who have experienced abuse, support groups for those impacted by sexual assault, mentorship programs for young leaders in their community, training workshops on healthy relationships and general education classes about feminism and gender equality. We understand that these issues need to be addressed both in the home and in schools because they are interrelated – one cannot exist without the other! We want everyone to feel safe and empowered so they can live their truth with respect! Let’s work together towards a world free from harm!

Gender-based violence is a common phenomenon in our society, and that calls for a need for Gender Equality Project. Youth from all over South Africa can join this project and change the world with their effort, as proven by Diepsloot Youth Projects.

The projects are run by volunteers who have experienced the reality of gender inequality first hand. They know what it takes to create a world where everyone has equal opportunities and rights, be it women or men. They understand the importance of respecting each other’s gender identity and making sure that no one faces discrimination because of his/her gender or sexuality.

There’s a lot of talk about gender-based violence these days, but why is it that we still grapple with such problems in our society? Youth Project Diepsloot believes that the answer lies in understanding how gender creates a dichotomy between men and women, and how this perception affects their lives.

The Gender-Based Violence Area of Responsibility (BA) aims to make a difference by empowering communities to understand and tackle gender-based violence. Research has shown that one in four women experience physical or sexual domestic abuse at least once in her lifetime. But what if it was you? Don’t let yourself get trapped by stereotypes! Join us as we work towards creating safe spaces for everyone.
