Crime is a serious issue that affects society in various ways. Our youth are also the victims of this crime, decreasing their chances to become productive members of society. Here’s an initiative to reduce crimes in your neighbourhood! The Diepsloot Youth Project provides education and skills development for at-risk youth in the area. Through workshops and classes, they teach life skills such as how to read and write, how to manage money, how to dress appropriately, etc. All this helps them build a good foundation for future career choices.
They also provide counselling services for those who might be struggling due to personal or social issues.
Crime and mugging are some of the most common problems faced by urban youths. In a bid to curb these, Diepsloot Youth Project has come up with an innovative approach for preventing crime among youth. With this project, you can help in building a safer society for tomorrow’s leaders.
This project is designed to create safe spaces where youth can feel accepted and respected, learn new skills, get involved and build awareness about societal issues that affect them. Crime prevention workshops are conducted by experts on the ground who teach them how they can stay safe while out in public places or at home. These include making good choices while using social media; staying alert in public places; self-defence techniques; etc. It also involves providing mental health support as well as vocational training so that they can be sustainable members of their community once they turn 18 years old.

We are happy to inform you that Diepsloot Youth Project has reached its target of a set up of a youth centre in the area. With an aim to provide holistic development programs, the facility will ensure safety and security for the children while they are there.
