At the Diepsloot Youth Project, we know how important it is to spread awareness about breast cancer and how important it is to have regular screenings. We also understand that talking about these issues can be a little overwhelming. That’s why we’re here for you – with our expert advice and support, you’ll feel confident in your decision to get screened regularly.
The Diepsloot Youth Project helps you overcome any barriers or embarrassment that might stand in your way. By providing quality breast screening services, education, and support, we’re committed to helping you take control of your health. From finding the right screening facility near you to making an appointment online or over the phone, we’ll guide you every step of the way.
We encourage all women over 40 to get screened regularly for breast cancer so that they can detect any changes before they become serious or life-threatening. If you have any questions about this or other health topics affecting your body’s ability to fight disease, don’t hesitate to ask us!
We want to make sure you know about all the harmful effects of breast cancer. But there’s another, often overlooked way that breast screening can help you. When you’re diagnosed with a lump, abnormal change in your breasts, or any other symptom of cancer, knowing how to talk to your doctor is key. That’s why we have established Diepsloot Youth Project – an organization that helps empower girls and young women to take control of their health by being informed and asking questions.
Through colorful kits that include information on early detection and risk factors, we hope to provide girls with the tools they need so they can feel confident and empowered when talking about their health issues. Whether that’s at school or work, we want them to know they can reach out when they need us most.
Have you heard of breast cancer? It’s a disease that affects over 800,000 women worldwide every year. But not all women know that they have it or how to check for it. That’s why Diepsloot Youth Project has started branding itself as a ‘Breast Cancer Friendly Facility’ and encouraging women to speak up about their symptoms to get checked early.
In the process, we’re teaching them important life skills like communication and self-worth, while also working on making the community more inclusive and accepting of all genders and races. Let’s make this world a better place!
Unwanted pregnancy, breast cancer and cervical cancer are among the biggest killers of women in South Africa. In 2019, it is estimated that 1 in every 8 deaths will be due to these causes. To reduce this number, we need to get more men involved in talking about these issues with their partners. We also need more people to know about how screening saves lives! That’s why Diepsloot Youth Project has launched a campaign – ‘Talk about it!’.
Join us as we screen for breast and cervical cancers at Diepsloot women’s health clinic on Wednesday 10 January between 10:00am – 12:00pm! Don’t forget your information so you can be added to our database when you visit your local clinic next time. Who knows? Maybe next time you’ll walk out knowing what they call you at home: Missed Opportunity!
We all remember the day we found out that our parents, siblings, or friends were diagnosed with breast cancer. We dread the thought of getting it ourselves – knowing how devastating it can be. But when you’re young and your parent/s is/are diagnosed with this condition, there’s no better way to express your concern than by volunteering for a screening session! That’s why DYP is one of the most popular youth programs in Diepsloot. With over 300 members currently enrolled, we offer free screenings for women over 40 years old and under 12 years old every month at different locations around Diepsloot. While we’re doing our part to raise breast cancer awareness among South Africa’s youth, enrolling yourself or someone close to you at DYP is a great way to show how important health care is for everyone!
