DYPRO holds classes in English, Afrikaans, and Sesotho from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM Monday through Friday. They also run after-school programs for 3 hours every day! DYPRO offers a complete curriculum that covers math, literacy, science, and more. Children are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities like sports and music as well.

When you live in a place where crime and violence seem to be the norm, you learn to stay cautious at all times. The youth of this area have had to live with such fear that they don’t even venture out in the dark. But that’s changing with the Diepsloot Youth Project!

The DYP is an engaging program that teaches its participants about violence and crime, as well as how to prevent them. Through fun activities and interactive workshops, the kids are building their confidence and re-learning how to navigate the world safely. With a special hotline for reporting crime and violence, they’re also acting as ambassadors for their neighborhood – spreading positivity wherever they go!

As soon as you see their faces walking down the street or cycling through town, you’ll know they’re changing things one step at a time – by teaching others how to do the same!

Diepsloot is one of the most notorious townships in South Africa. Home to about 40,000 people, this place has become synonymous with crime and poverty.
