Life can be hectic and demanding, especially for children. With so many demands on their time and energy, finding ways to stay occupied can seem like a challenge. At Diepsloot Youth Project, however, they are making every minute count. Located in South Africa’s largest informal settlement, they are providing young people there with the resources they need to find their place in the world.
DYP offers computer access and internet access so that children can keep up with the latest news and trends online. They also have classes on everything from financial literacy to life skills so that children can prepare themselves for adulthood as successfully as possible. In addition to this, they hold events like movie nights and sports tournaments where participants of all ages come together to enjoy themselves and make friends.
DYP is making a difference not just in the lives of its participants but also in the community at large by bringing people together and creating a sense of belonging for everyone involved. That’s why we love them!
Youth unemployment is on the rise and it seems like nothing is being done about it. The Diepsloot Youth Project wants to change that. Men and women who are looking for a fresh start are welcomed at the project, where they get the opportunity of a lifetime – an apprenticeship with Diepsloot’s most renowned companies.
At the Youth Project, our goal is to create long-term solutions to youth unemployment by providing young people with meaningful work experience while they build their careers. Our program includes classroom training, community service projects, and on-the-job training where our participants learn valuable skills that will help them achieve their goals. Our goal is to prepare young people to become productive members of society who can contribute to their community in meaningful ways.
Youth unemployment is a global problem that needs to be addressed with innovative solutions. Diepsloot Youth Project is one such initiative that uses the power of entrepreneurship and job creation to provide young people with a way out of poverty and towards success. The project has helped more than 700 young people launch their own businesses, and 70% of these businesses have been successful. One thing is for sure: when you attend a Diepsloot Youth Project workshop, you’re in for a treat because they’re excellent at teaching youth how to run their own businesses while also imparting valuable life skills like time-management, motivation, and financial literacy.

It’s not easy to help the ones who don’t understand or trust you, but that’s what the Diepsloot Youth Project does. The youth group helps homeless youth by providing them with food, clothing and shelter. They also teach them valuable life skills like how to budget, become self-sufficient and take care of their physical and mental health.
With a commitment that stems from the top-down, these young leaders are changing lives one pair of pants at a time.
